MINIMUM WAGE REGULATIONS, 1999 (LI 1658) IN exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for Employment and Social Welfare by subsection (2)(g) of section 72 of the Labour Decree, 1967 (N.L.C.D, 1507) these Regulations are made this 14th day of July, 1999.

Section 1

1. Minimum Wage

(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of the Labour Regulations, 1967 (L.I. 632)[sic] the minimum wage rate per day of a worker in Ghana shall be two thousand and nine hundred cedis. (2) The minimum wage shall be exclusive of any allowance.

Section 2

2. Exemption from Application of Minimum Wage

The minimum wage specified under regulation 1 of these Regulations shall not apply to— (a) any person who works less than an average of twenty seven hours a week; (b) piece workers; (c) share croppers; (d) sea-going personnel in the fishing industry who are not wage earners; and (e) apprentices.
