KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, KUMASI ACT, 2025 (ACT 1157)

(1) There is established by this Act, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi as a body corporate. (2) For the performance of the functions of the University, the University may acquire and hold property, dispose of property and enter into a contract or any other related transaction. (3) Where there is a hindrance to the acquisition of land, the land may be acquired for the University under the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036) and the cost shall be borne by the University.

(1) The aims of the University are to (a) provide higher education; (b) undertake research and disseminate knowledge; and (c) foster relationships between the University and other persons. (2) To achieve the aims of the University under subsection (1), the University shall (a) determine the programmes to be taught at the University, placing emphasis on science and technology as a means of meeting the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians in particular and Africans in general; (b) ensure that higher education is made equally accessible to all persons capable of benefiting from education subject to the availability of resources; (c) promote inclusivity by ensuring, among others, gender balance, social equity and equality of opportunities among students and employees; (d) provide students with an understanding of global affairs through the application of modern tools, including emerging technologies for teaching, learning, research and dissemination of knowledge in support of sustainable development; (e) provide training for students in methods of critical and independent thinking as a means of improving the skills of the students for entrepreneurial development innovation and employment; (f) promote in students the responsibility of making the education of the students beneficial to the country in particular and to humanity in general; (g) promote research in all disciplines for the enhancement of quality education and national development; (h) provide opportunities for higher education and research to students from other countries, particularly countries in Africa; (i) disseminate widely research outputs and knowledge generated through publications and other suitable means; and (j) foster closer relations with the people of Ghana and with other institutions within and outside the country. (3) In furtherance of paragraph (b) of subsection (2), the University shall ensure that the proportion of fee-paying students at any time shall not exceed the percentage approved by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission in consultation with the Minister.
