GHANA INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS ACT, 1969

(1) There is hereby established in accordance with this Act an Institution to be known as the Ghana Institution of Engineers. (2) The Institution is a body corporate with perpetual succession, may sue and be sued in its corporate name and may hold, acquire and dispose of property, movable or immovable. (3) The Institution shall have a common seal which shall be kept in the custody determined by the Council. (4) The seal shall not be affixed to a document or an instrument except by order of the Council and in the presence of two members of the Council who shall sign the document or instrument independently of the signature of any other person who may have signed the document or instrument as a witness.

The objects of the Institution are, (a) to promote the general advancement of engineering science and practice, and (b) to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas relating to or concerning engineering science and practice.
