GHANA INSTITUTE OF LANGUAGES ACT, 1969

(1) There is hereby established for the purposes of this Act an Institute to be known as the Ghana Institute of Languages. (2) The Institute is a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal, and may sue and be sued in its corporate name. (3) The Institute may, for the performance of its functions, acquire and hold movable and immovable property, dispose of that property by lease or otherwise and enter into a contract of any other transaction.

The functions of the Institute are, (a) to provide courses of instruction in non-Ghanaian African languages and any other foreign languages for persons in the Republic and from other African countries;2(2) (b) to furnish advice to the Government and any other public authority on request in respect of matters relating to the teaching of a language; and (c) to do any other things which are incidental to or connected with the performance of its functions.
