RULING
There is a memorandum of issues filed by the parties and the first issue is whether the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court has been properly invoked.
The Court intends to first decide this issue. The Plaintiff mounted this action on the basis that some persons petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to set up a bi-partisan committee to investigate some alleged lapses committed by the Economic and Organized Crime Office and the Attorney – General. The court posed the question to the Plaintiff’s lawyer whether the Speaker acted on the petition and he said no.
From this answer, the court is of the opinion that there is no life issue for the court to determine since no one has violated any provision of the constitution. In the circumstances, the jurisdiction of the court is not properly invoked, and the entire case of the plaintiff is dismissed.
