Her Ladyship Justice Cynthia Wiredu of the High Court resolved a dissolution of an Ordinance marriage following consideration of the petitioner’s pleadings, the respondent’s answer, and a cross-petition. After evaluating the evidence, the Court found that the marital relationship had irretrievably broken down and that all attempts at reconciliation had failed, satisfying Section 2 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1971 (Act 367). The Court therefore dissolved the marriage and cancelled the marriage certificate. The parties had filed comprehensive terms of settlement on 10 December 2021, which the Court adopted as part of the final judgment, entering them as a consent judgment. The settlement provided that no ancillary reliefs would be granted for or against either party and that there would be no order as to costs, with each party bearing their own legal expenses. The order specifically referenced the marriage contracted on 15 November 2014 at Martyrs of Uganda Catholic Church, Mamprobi-Accra.
