IN THE MATTER OF KWABENA GBORBITEY (A CHILD) AND IN THE MATTER OF THE CHILDREN'S ACT, 1998 (ACT 560) AS AMENDED BY THE CHILDREN'S AMENDMENT ACT, 2016 (ACT 937) AND IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE GRANT OF ADOPTION

The High Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Cynthia Wiredu (Mrs.), considered an application supported by an affidavit and attached exhibit seeking authorization for an applicant to travel in and out of the jurisdiction with a minor, Mordecai Nii Tettey Kobla Nuna Obuobi-Attram. Evaluating the evidence, the court found the applicant, a teacher, had provided attentive and appropriate care to the child, who has a medical condition, and determined that the applicant is the best person to be with and care for him. Applying the best interest of the child standard, the court concluded that granting the application would serve the child’s welfare. Accordingly, the application was granted, expressly permitting the applicant to travel with the child in and out of the jurisdiction.
